About The Training
If you feel that pull, it’s a REALLY good sign!
We are looking for serious and committed students with a solid foundation in the basic yoga postures. It is not about having an advanced practice and mastering the tricky poses, but rather a mature practice – knowing your own limits and coming to the mat with a willingness to learn.
We require a consistent yoga practice of at least 18 months, or a long-term practice of over 10 years intermittently. This course is also suitable for those seeking personal development through Yoga without the desire to formally teach, as well as those who wish to partner formal yoga knowledge with other wellness practices or careers. Please reach out – we are happy to discuss options!
Yes! While this course will fully prepare and qualify you to teach yoga, it will also have a strong emphasis on developing your personal practice and understanding of yoga.
If you are interested in this transformative experience for wellness and personal growth, this course is also suitable for you.
Yes, you have the option of meeting the Lead Senior Teachers in either a 1:1 Discovery Call format, or through an online Q&A session with other interested participants.
Teaching & Certification
You will teach classes to your fellow students and friends & family while in training as a Student under Yoga Alliance’s Student Insurance Scheme (Additional course cost of £25 while on a Foundation Teacher Training Programme). This ensures that you are fully supported by Yoga Alliance’s governing body and senior teachers while you are learning to teach.
Once you have graduated and have earned your certificate accredited by Yoga Alliance UK, you will be able to begin teaching independently with your insurance and First Aid certification (this is sought separately but we will guide you on this process).
EVERYONE feels like this before they start the training. It’s perfectly normal to feel this way – we haven’t yet taught you the knowledge or given you the skills and experience that help to build your confidence.
There is plenty of practice to do this in a safe place with your co-learners. Like any skill, it can be learned, practiced, and refined. Over 90% of our graduates go on to teach, so we are very confident that – with commitment and hard work – you’ll get there too.
Most studios and gyms require yoga teachers to have an Accredited Teacher’s Certificate.
On successful completion of this course, you will be awarded a Foundation 200 Hour Yoga Teacher’s Certificate Accredited by Yoga Alliance.
You will also need Liability Insurance and a First Aid training which we can help guide you on.
We are always looking for passionate, committed, well-trained teachers, who uphold our high standards of safe, inspiring and accessible teaching.
Whilst we can’t guarantee any opportunities, our Teaching Certificate is the main gateway onto the regular teaching schedule. Over the years, many of our outstanding graduates have become part of the teaching team.
Course Commitment
To make the learning experience as comprehensive as possible, you can anticipate spending 1.5-2 hours a week outside of the training days. That includes completing the assignments, reading, writing sequences and essays. You will also be required to have a regular practice.
Provided you have maintained your commitment to the process, we will always endeavour to support your progress and help you achieve graduation. We can create a Personal Development Plan to bring you back on track.
Support may include ‘mentoring’ by senior teachers, private sessions, additional assignments or workshops and reassessments. Please note, there may be additional fees associated with each of these support methods.
Each training session is key to the course schedule and the training you will receive. While students can catch up on the content, it isn’t possible to recreate discussions, questions and reflections in the same way as being a part of the group. Therefore, we urge students to attend all sessions unless there are extreme extenuating circumstances. However, we understand you may not be able to foresee every conflict, and so we have the following contingency in place.
If you miss a day you will given the recording of the session to watch and complete the assignments from home, along with a reflection summary on the portion you have watched.
If you miss more than a day (up to a maximum of 3 days) you may be asked to schedule a private session. Private sessions must be completed within the course timeline and are subject to teacher availability. They will be charged at the current rate of £90 per hour. We reserve the right to change the price of these private sessions at any time.
If you miss more than 3 days the learning has been compromised and you can no longer obtain certification during this intake. You may choose to continue with the course simply for the learning experience. Or if you would like certification, you will need to retake the course (depending on availability, you may be eligible for a discount on the full programme).
We make our cancellation and refund policy transparent so you can make an informed decision. Please take time to read our T&Cs carefully. In the event of the studio cancelling the course, you will receive a full refund, or the option of being transferred to the next year’s course.
In the event of you cancelling your place, provided you have notified us at least 90 days before the start date you can receive a refund (less the non-refundable deposit), or the option of being transferred to a future course.
We regret no refund or transfer can be given outside of these terms, including if you are unable to attend due to illness, work, family, or other reasons. Before committing to a course, please ensure you can attend the scheduled number of sessions to get the most out of the programme. This cancellation policy is unconditional.
Support & Next Steps
In the past, we have worked with students with varying learning needs. We are committed to making learning as accessible as possible and will discuss with you any adjustments that could help. It is important that students also engage with the support and follow the guidance provided to get the most from their learning experience.
If we are unable to open the studio, due to weather or other circumstances outside of our control, we will move the in-studio classes to livestream and then follow up the course with additional in-studio classes on a future date to give you the full qualification needed.
Absolutely! Students often decide to develop specific skills in areas that are of particular interest to them such as yin yoga, restorative yoga, yoga therapeutics, or power vinyasa yoga and we offer additional CPD trainings for all of these each year – please see our Teacher Events for more info.
