Need to know more?
Everything you need to know about accreditation, assessments, course structure and becoming qualified to teach Reformer Pilates.
All the London Pilates Academy tutors are qualified to both teach and assess. As importantly, we have all taught at the highest level, resulting in vast industry experience. You could say that our courses and workshops are written and delivered for trainers, by trainers. We understand the needs of the modern trainer and the demands of the modern clients that you are likely to encounter within your career.
Yes. The course is accredited by CIMSPA and backed by YMCA Awards. Unless your potential employer has a specific certification requirement, the course will be recognised.
Yes. To complete the course, you will:
Film and submit a practical assessment (teaching a Reformer class)
Complete an online multiple-choice theory exam
These assessments ensure you’re confident, competent, and ready to teach.
Course days start at 9am and finish at 5pm
The online learning is lighter than the Level 3 Diploma, but we recommend giving yourself 3–4 weeks to complete it at a steady pace. It takes around 6 hours in total, and spreading it out allows you to get the most from the tutorial videos and arrive feeling well prepared.
We strongly recommend only enrolling if you can attend all four days, as each one covers a large portion of the course.
If you do have to miss a session, recorded content will be available for a nominal fee to help you catch up—but in-person attendance is key to getting the most from the training.
You will receive your certification once your practical and theory assessments are successfully completed and marked.
This usually happens within 2–3 weeks of submitting your final assessment.
Most Pilates training pathways start with a mat-based qualification—like our Level 3 Mat Pilates course. This provides the foundation for further study, including equipment-based training like Reformer.
Our Functional Reformer course is open to those with a Level 3 fitness qualification (such as mat Pilates or personal training) or equivalent experience. Some studios may accept teachers without mat training, but please note:
You won’t be qualified to teach mat Pilates
You shouldn’t market yourself as a fully qualified Pilates teacher without a certified mat course
If your main focus is teaching Reformer, this course may be a great fit—as long as you meet the entry requirements.
